In the 18th century, there was a blatantly made-up theory that the massive mounds spread across the Southeast and the valleys of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers were built by a "lost race," and not by American Indians. In this lecture, Chadwick Allen will read from his new book that investigates how Native writers and artists "engage ancient earthworks in contemporary productions."
