New Research Suggests That the Jury-Selection Process Results in More Racist Juries

All Jurors Must Be Sentence Qualified

Dudley Sharp

All selected jurors must be able to give any of the available sentences in any given case.

If they can't follow the law, by being able to select any legally available sanction, they are not qualified to be on a jury, because they cannot follow the law.

Pretty Basic.

RACE & THE DEATH PENALTY: A REBUTTAL TO THE RACISM CLAIMS
http://prodpinnc.blogspot.com/2012/07/re…

"There is no race of the offender / victim effect at either the decision to advance a case to penalty hearing or the decision to sentence a defendant to death given a penalty hearing."

"As blacks represent 47% of murderers and whites 37%, we see that whites are twice as likely to be executed for committing murder as are their black counterparts."

Definitely makes me think of this: http://kuow.org/post/state-supreme-court…
4
Gee, when was the last time whitey got off the hook for killing a cop?

You people need to stop coddling criminals.
5
@dudley, somehow I think you would feel differently if you were the accused in a death penalty case, and had to go in front of a jury that was selected to be 100% pro death penalty.
6
@4 Depends on what you mean by "off the hook", doesn't it?

It says right there in the very first sentence (I assume you read that far) "no one denies that Christopher Monfort etc". He's not going to walk out of the court room a free man, we can be pretty darn sure.

@1, links to your own kook blog are not very convincing, Mr. Dull.

The racial disparity of death sentences is overwhelming, both in terms of victims and perpetrators (killing a white man is many, many times more likely to get you a death sentence than killing a black man -- 22 times more likely if the killer was black). No one except kook white supremacists like yourself believes otherwise.

You apparently have nothing better to do than go around the internet spreading your poison; I've seen your name on comments everywhere the subject of capital punishment comes up, like this article from The Atlantic:

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/arch…

If you want a real look at what happens in death (and life-imprisonment) cases, check out "Just Mercy" by Bryan Stevenson. The stories he tells there will chill your blood. There's a reason why even Republicans with a conscience are having second thoughts about the bloodlust of death row sentencing.

I won't defend the police, but anyone that is so depraved as to commit this sort of crime, the only answer should be teaching them how to dance at the short drop end of a rope.
9
Letting that fucker rot in this wheelchair for the rest of his natural life is a far more severe sentence.
10
I'm really curious what that questionnaire asks specifically.

@7 - I don't doubt there is racial disparity in a whole bunch of different places in the US in the application of capital punishment. But is that true of our system in Washington? This isn't Texas. Is it fair to paint us with the same brush, if our system doesn't have the problems of other states?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION
(One Survey per juror please)

Not many years ago jurors were summoned from voter registration rolls only. In an effort to diversify the jury panels to better reflect the population the state included drivers’ licenses and state identification cards. In order to determine if other modifications should be attempted we are asking potential jurors to fill out this voluntary questionnaire to help establish a base line. The questionnaire is identical to the United States Census Bureau 2010 form that all households in the U.S. were asked to submit.

If a Black cop kills a White teenager, then can they get the same sympathy from the corpsepirate media as White cops who have killed Negroid teens? O.O -- http://www.copwatch.com .
