When I was in this mermaid crowd's age group I spent my life mostly in the dark hours, drinking, doing drugs and listening to very loud music either alone or in clubs. I would say this is a far more constructive use of time while also admitting to being totally mystified by the compulsion to dress like a fish. Education and conservation is always a worthy cause, so you go, fishtail girls.

I think the word you are looking for is "exploiting". If the Stranger was exploding women I think we'd all have bigger problems.
