Not only did Hubbard live around here, several core members of his founding Dianetics/Scientology inner circle split off and founded... Re-evaluation Counseling (aka "RC', aka "co-counseling') here too.
These dudes disagreed with Hubbard in ways I don't fully understand, so they started their own self-help non-cult. RC is not actually identified as a cult by cult-watch groups, and they do teach regular people basic, real Freudian active listening techniques that can actually help others work through their own issues.
But the nepotism at the top, and multiple allegations of sexual misconduct by those nepotistic leaders, to say nothing of the near- or actual- revolt that has gone on inside this group --ALL SO VERY SILENTLY-- are all quite concerning details.
What? you say, you've never even HEARD of any "RC" group that split off from the Dianetics core team yet continued teaching the same basic methods to neophytes? Huh. Wonder why that might be...

Man, this is nuts, I never knew he lived around here
