How to Make Your Very Own Levamisole Test Kit

So just to make sure, bottle A is 50% w/v citric acid, bottle B is reaction buffer, and bottle C is pNPP solution. If you're using powdered coke (not crack), then bottle A shouldn't be necessary.

This is really good, accessible biochemistry! I wish I could teach this to my students.

I got a better idea. How about you just realise that doing cocaine is about as unethical as running over a dolphin in a humvee and stop doing it. Cocaine = Slave labour, literally
3
@2

Why do you hate America?
4
@2 Cocaine turns its producers as well as its users into slaves. What is being attempted here is to poison as few of the cocaine slave users as possible. Thanks for the input!
5
Why are people who use cocaine worried about ruining their immune systems, but not their septums or the rest of their health?
6
If somebody is dumb enough to do coke what on earth makes anybody think they're going to even remotely come close to following the steps outlined here?
7
Retard @2, you're suggestion that people just "stop doing it" sounds a little too much like "Just say no". In case you don't recall, that was our countries policy for decades and it didn't work out all that well.
8
I meant country's
9
For some reason I suspect that most users aren't up to doing the stoichiometry required to make these reagents. Hell, I've met lab techs who weren't up to it ...

@1

Bottle A is 50% citric acid. And it isn't necessary for powder cocaine. But it simplifies the instructions to always use bottle A. Adding citric acid will not cause a problem for powder, but NOT adding it for crack may cause a big one.

And it is a great biochem teaching lab. Just use faked samples. Mannitol spiked with levamisole vs. mannitol alone. If the drug war politics raises eyebrows, just make the students into toxicologists at the state crime lab.

Retard #2 here.

@3 Why do you think that America is the only western country that abuses coke and hence supports slavery. But well spotted that I'm not from Seattle.

@4 Good point. It'd be good if people didn't try Coke for the first time because they were aware that it is made in the equivalent of sweat shops.

@7 I am saying 'Stop doing it'. But I'm saying why. There's no reason to stop doing a recreational drug if it's not hurting anybody. But it is hurting someone every time you do a line. That sucks. Switch to something else.

I would just like to add that cocaine is awesome.

I am dismayed at the level of ignorance and lack of compassion divulged in several statements above. The work done by Dr. Michael Clark is aimed at helping people & saving tax dollars. Clearly the socio-economic factors involved in this tragedy are beyond your comprehension.

Levamisole is a potent inhibitor of calf alkaline phosphatase enzyme activity but several other simple compounds can inhibit this enzyme at higher concentrations. Cysteine, phenylalanine and homoarginine are amino acids not likly to be found in street drugs unless intended for bodybuilders. Sodium borate (borax powder) is known to inhibit the activity of calf alkaline phosphatase and may sometimes be used as a cut for coke. That could result in a false positive and what then- throw the expensive coke out? Wouldn't that disrespect the lives lost in Mexico and Columbia who produced it at such great risk?

You have got to be kidding.. right?? WTF? NONE OF YOU BRAINIACS CAN COME UP WITH SOMETHING SIMPLER THAN A METH LIKE LAB??...seriously, come back when you have where you can put a gram of coke in a glass, add one part water, one part of your tester, and if it turn red it POSITIVE! You can buy a 40$ test kit at walgreens that detects 7 diferent drugs.

14 For what's it worth: boric acid and its salts were recently (2010) found to be much more toxic than initially thought, causing damage to the unborn child and fertility of both sexes. It is being phased out curently in the EU under the REACH program. Not that that will withold unscrupulous distributors of cocaine of course.

According to Rev. Bras. Cienc. Farm. [online]. 2003, vol.39, n.1, pp. 71-75, of the seized samples of Sao Paolo in 1997, 3.8% contained borates as a diluent.

When such a case is suspected, I suppose one could use those borate test strips, commonly available from pool supply houses.

Sodium borate can be removed by its insolubility in alcohol, or maybe by precipitating with metal ions as insoluble borate salts (many metal borates are insoluble).

For the non-chemistry majors here, it appears that Doctor Mike Clark and Brendan Kiley make about "500 kits at a time." That should enable users to find the kits somewhere, and saving the immune systems, and potentially lives of users might save our society lots of money and grief.

I have a far simpler test method. When you pick up your Kilo just find a crack head and give it a couple 8 balls, a few stems and lighters and lock them in a closet with it. Then just open it up in 3 days and see if they are dead covered with oozing lesions or looking to buy more! lol Another technique to clean up crack infested hoods is to rock up a batch with 50% sodium cyanide(much cheaper then potassium cyanide), package it into 1/2 gram packets and sprinkle them here and there in areas heavily infested with crack heads such as Wall Street, country clubs, police stations, the white house... Basically anywhere people that can still afford cocaine are found. When they see someone try it and tip over dead they will assume it is really good shit and fight to the death over the pipe and remaining product so each packet can eradicate 3 or 4 undesirable criminals and leeches from the white collar welfare role that is crippling the nation.

Please wait...
