This is a beautiful article. Thank you.

Monthly budget for art. I think I want to marry this man.

I'm inspired!

I've always thought it's better to have one piece of original art you paid $100 for than 10 posters.

Now that this article came out I hope he has good locks on his doors.

@4: Thank you so much for your contribution and insight.

I love this. I love collecting art because you love the art, not because of who the artist is or what it is/will be worth monetarily. I'm excited to have enough art in my home to run out of wall space. This is super inspiring.

Great piece great subject, the collectors are what make the the Art world spin.I hope that others can be inspired by this excellent story.

This is a great article, thanks Jen ~ Will hopefully inspire more people to consider original art as an accessible and exciting investment!

We need more collectors like this in Seattle. Good luck on your next find Stephen...

Steve is the epitome of humanity at its best. He is a kind gentle giant who treasures friendship even more than art. We should all be so kind and generous.

I remember attending Steve's first photo show, years ago...he's a family friend from way back...a delightful person and wonderful artist...
Congratulations Steve!!!

We have known Steve for years through yoga and then painting. He has painted every room in our big house and the outside, too. He always adds extras--ideas and suggestions to make the project turn out to be even better than you expected. Steve has gone out of his way on for us so many times I cannot even count. We are so lucky to have him as a friend. And we have seen most of that collection in person--lucky us. Alan & Amy

Mr Magic (pronounced mageec) What a great article. He is truly a great guy. We all used to work out and party in Manhattan Beach in the early 70's. By the way ,my wife and kids got a kick out of the volleyball video you sent... Good Luck Steve John Altamura

I've known Steve since the 60's from his Southern California days. I painted houses with Steve in the summers and the same caring for art was projected into his daily work. Every clients house was an artistic mission no matter how humble it's appearance. He would counsel the owners with such confidence and caring that I looked forward to working everyday. And we had fun, we painted to music and used our pole sanders as "air guitars".

Please wait...
