It begins with a car crash, then staggers around a small Mexican town for 24 hours, trying to make everything right again. We follow Juan (Diego Cataño) as he meets people—an infirm old man, a karate fanatic, a comically inept teenage mother—while searching for a new part for his damaged car. Along the way, we learn that Juan wants to fix more than just his Nissan; he's trying to figure out how to repair a broken life. Lake Tahoe is a refreshing, reinvigorating pause-button on a noisy summer movie season. (Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Ave, 829-7863. 7 and 9 pm, $6–$9.)
