Um. Quality of the plot? Decent characters? Funny/Not Funny? Worth taking a kid to see? What a truncated review.

Yeah, so, is this s good movie or not?

@1 and 2 - there are plenty of other reviews that address these things. I for one appreciate something a little deeper less pedestrian like the piece above.

@3: Ditto. Plus, I think Charles nailed something this time -- deserves some credit.

This is not a review - this is comment, which is fine, and quite well done. Charles gets these thoughts in his mind and just sends them flying out. I, for one, appreciate the sponteneity and the haphazard good/bad/weird results of that exercise.

I think @1 and @3 are both right. Mudede has some new insight, but could he please flesh it out a little?

As someone from the more northerly reaches of Appalachia, let me assure you that poor, rural, white people do a lot to perpetuate the worst stereotypes of themselves. Most of the sane people left the countryside a while ago, so it's basically a variety pack of mental dysfunction out in the hollows.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you could not call racism against white folk? I'd rather not ever never EVER give people of my color a chance to use that reasoning.

I'm fine with you pointing it out, but I am also disgusted to admit that there are people who would use the fact that you, an African(!), said it to mean its okay for them to spew their nonsensical drivel about how it is a huge slight.

I know its just a humble opinion from a ridiculous kid, but... its better to speak and be ignored.

Song of the South did portray white trash stereotypes. When we watched it in high school that was something the class picked up on. Uncle Remus was kind of a stereotype, but a good hearted one. Two thirds of the poor white family were stupid, grungy little boys who were cruel to everyone that crossed their path, including their sister (who wasn't allowed to hang out with the rich white boy because her family was just so dirt poor and embarassing). The way poor white people were portrayed was way worse in that movie than the way that black people were.

Then it is your fault. I hate when parents don’t take their responsabilities like that. You don’t have to bring your daughter to see every Disney movie without knowing what’s inside. And it’s not Disney who decides what rating it’s gonna be. This movie is one of the best movies Disney has done in 2D recently, and i can’t understand the problem with the Prince. If he had been black, people would have said Disney thinks black people should only be with black people, so…

And again : it’s only a Disney movie…
