Hey Jon,,,great review of Haneke...though one heads up...have you ever lived in germany?...well, the villagers and the children portrayed in the filme are quite accurate in their dowl gravitat...this IS the German personnae.....Haneke generally gives portrayal in accurate qualities...the truth is, the Germans are not really that happy about many things....that is about being German...then include into this...the Swiss ...and Austrian..and Danish...and French...and Swedish...and .....basically any farther northern European peoples....really...the Russian portrayls are not so happy either....but then, we live here in the United States of Amerikah..where we see lots of explosions or special effects...or portrayals of our own brands of amnesia.....
Hi steelmanner! Welcome to the internet, a written medium. Ellipses are great when used sparingly to express hesitation or a thought trailing off, but they are not a substitute for periods. Confusing the two just makes you look illiterate and guarantees that most people aren't going to bother reading your comment. Honestly, you must know better, so why on earth are you doing that?
Did someone mention 'The White Ribbon'? Do not take razors into the theatre when you view it; take a companion along who is blind and preferably not German. It's pure Teutonic misery with all the warmth of a blood clot. And will probably win an Oscar as one more sop for all of the folk who still feel bad about doing so little to prevent the Holocaust.
