you're totally wrong. the frustrating part of this movie is not all that bullshit about the weak standing together (for one thing, the stampers are not among the weak), but rather the piss-poor adaptation of a wonderful novel it is. i love me some paul newman, but this book had no business being turned into a film by anyone.
Ken Kesey was so upset with the movie he had his name taken off the credits. The fact that it was chopped mercilessly and turned into a TV movie retitled "Never Give an Inch" didn't help.
