Poor Forest Whitaker—the guy’s too good for this predictable, sloppy, achingly bad wedding comedy about a black family and a Mexican family fighting their way toward nuptials. Whitaker plays the father of the groom, a single and smooth radio DJ who loves his car. Carlos Mencia plays the father of the bride, a traditional Latino family man who runs an auto-body shop and sometimes tows people’s cars… Can you see where this is going?

The film’s crown-jewel joke is about a goat (brought by the Mexicans) that eats Whitaker’s Viagra and goes on a non-hilarious, not-terribly-destructive, just-kinda-irritating rampage. Cultures clash, people learn and grow, blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah.

Director Rick Famuyiwa has already made two wedding/romance movies: The Wood (1999) and Brown Sugar (2002). He should not be allowed to make any more. recommended
