The best films in Belgium are in Flemish.

The best music in Belgium is in French.
2
@1 Flemish politics are very interesting these days (or probably always have been). Couldn't grasp the dialects.
3
Jesus, Will. Cockblocking motherfucker.

Julien, thank you for the link to Les Robins des Bois, which does not require French to enjoy soooo much.
4
@3 what, it's true.
5
"...vous riez comme des boeufs comme si c'Ă©tait un film avec Ben Stiller..."

I laughed for like 5 minutes reading this. Julien, you are a peach.
6
I do not think that word means what you think it means....
7
Dutch, not Flemish.
8
I can't help but laugh when something delights me even when it isn't funny per se. That's why the laughter. Delight and surprise.
9
Will, this is a little dated, but speaking Flemish political speak is along those lines to the present-day electoral appointments.

"Ça plane pour moi" sounds better as "jet boy, jet girl" by elton motello anyway
11
10: I heard that version as a kid and have never forgotten it. Does my memory serve me correctly when I recall a chorus of "Ooo ooo ooo ooo/she gave me head?"
12
I'd like to hear a six-part version of ca plane pour moi. interesting.
13
@11 i believe it's "he gives me head" as it's a tongue-in-cheek reference to a young rent boy. Great song though, and also the Damned (who I originally heard the song from) do a sweet cover.
14
@13 is correct. The only thing that drives me nuts about the Elton Montello version is that it really only has 2 parts and about 6 lines of lyrics spread out over 5 minutes.
15
For the longest time when I was younger, I thought the lyrics were "Cent blanc pour moi" instead of "Ça plane pour moi."
16
Plastic Bertrand pees all over Elton Motello, sorry. Even if it is really sung by producer Lou Deprijck (which I can't help but read as "Lou the Prick".
17
@14 and you like Kyesha?
18
Julien - in America people laugh just to show they get the joke, not because something is funny. This is especially true at plays. They will also give a standing ovation for just about anything.

Per Google translator: "Damn, but close your mouths, and uneducated bunch of stupid Americans! There's a beast of performance art, there in your eyes and you laugh like oxen, as if this were a movie starring Ben Stiller, so you should just admire the fact that the Yanks as you are able to rise above the ambient stupidity! Shut up, shit"

Money phrase: "Ambient stupidity."

Internet Translators.... bah.

What he said was "Bitches, just shut your traps you bunch of uncultured, feeble Americans. Here you have greats of true artistic performance, right here before your very eyes, and yet you laugh like dumb cows as though you were at a Ben Stiller movie, when you could just be admiring the evidence that Yanks like you are occasionally capable of lifting yourselves above the ambient stupidity.... Shit, shut up!

Internet Translators.... bah. Who needs em?

@17 - I honestly don't think I know who that is. Do you even know what we're talking about right now?

@16 - Fun fact if you didn't already know, Plastic Bertrand plays drums on the Elton Montello version. I want to favor the "original" for some reason, but the PB version... er, redux, really is better.

Please wait...
