Torrents also get you 1080p resolution and surround sound. The whole point of the Criterion Collection has always been the quality of their transfers (both audio and video), plus the special features. A 720p, low bit rate, compressed to hell movie with tinny stereo sound isn't very appealing.
I have a 2 TB hard drive connected to a WDTV Live player, my entire collection of retail DVDs (350), plus my sisters collection (200) easily fit on it, with tons of room to spare. I never once felt the need to keep intact the bonus features, so Criterion Collections dont really interest me.
and sadly, you get a chopped up stream (whether the BB provider says, "no they are not causing problems" or not) we all know they are chunking up our streaming service and we can't prove it "'cause it works" by their standards no matter the quality, "call the provider of the program", they say. :(
Download it first, and you don't have all those dumb pipe problems. :|

Netflix and the like should provide better caching abilities (buffers) so the stupid dumb pipes are less of a problem.
Hulu Plus would be compelling if it actually offered the television content available on Hulu.com. Hulu.com Plus and it's episodes of Psych and Desperate Housewives can suck it.
One doest always need to torrent the movie.

Just buy the blu-ray. Or go to Scarecrow and rent the thing.
Maitresse is probably one of the best films (that I know of) that is part of The Criterion Collection.

Definitely worth a peek if you have never seen it before.
Still, I hope that Criterion is making good business with this, because I rent or buy lots of their releases, and their catalog is stellar.
Their technical quality on releases is also generally pretty exceptional as well.
