You Can Relax Now: The Muppets Does Jim Henson Proud

I liked Jar-Jar, and the Rasta-Muppet, and "Muppet Treasure Island" I LOVE! "Wizard" I've not heard of till now, however.
2
Anyway, I'm glad to see The Muppets back, and mostly, "MENHAA, MENHAA!!" (or however one spells it).
3
Okay. I'm reliving my childhood here, but the Muppets are back!! YAAAAAAAYYY!!!!
4
It was a great movie...fart feet and all!!
5
Hey, I was laughing at the Muppets sitting on toilet seats. I wasn't even imagining the puppeteers at all, I was that lost in that magic.

Needed more Gonzo, but otherwise, fucking fantastic.

Wow, just like Phantom Menace, people are so desperate to see Muppets on a big screen that they'll settle for that piece of crap! That was a bad movie, folks. Way too many humans, not enough Muppets. And, Paul, you're so wrong on one point: The mid-late 90s Muppet movies were no where near as awful as this one. They actually made me laugh.

This father and daughter enjoyed the movie quite a bit. There aren't many movies we both like this much. Enchanted came close; it has a similar feel and one actor in common.

I mention that as an indicator: If you like one, you might like the other. If you hated one, you probably won't like the other.

One downside: "It's Time to Light the Lights" has been in my head for 20 hours now.

@7: I know! I keep hearing "It's Time to Light the Lights", too, especially when Statler & Waldorf yell some hilariously outrageous remark from the balcony!

Bret McKenzie's songs were amazing. Only his damnably catchy lyrics prevented me from getting the Muppet theme song stuck in my head. Me Party could easily end up the new breakup anthem.
Sure, the movie has more people than most Muppet movies, and sure it's a little different, but the second appearance of the fart shoes struck me as classically Muppet.

maniacal laugh. maniacal laugh. chris cooper rocks.

I'll assume that The Muppet Christmas Carol is included in the "five-film losing streak", which is sad. Not only is it one of my favorite Muppet movies (after the first Muppet Movie, and Muppets Take Manhattan), it's one of the more endearing renditions of the story, and I watch it every year.

I'm always concerned with watching the newer Muppet films regarding the performers. Voices are always really noticeable to me -- even the new Kermit in Christmas Carol was noticeable -- so I get concerned that I will feel a loss if I watch these newer movies with a Fozzie that doesn't sound like himself. Treasure Island was the last of the more modern ones that I've seen.

I re-watched Manhattan recently and I damn near died when the Sesame Street cast appeared at the end during the wedding scene. It was so wonderful as a person who grew up with Sesame Street (where they still have most of the same performers and same human actors).

I'll definitely catch this one though. I'm sure the various self-referential gags are fantastic, and I love a good "save a [business] from the evil [competition/bank]" type of story.

I loved that Segal wrote in an insightful comment about Kermit and Ms. Piggy's often uncomfortable relationship, when Kermit accuses her of being melodramatic in ways that basically force him to hurt her. Right on, Kermit!
13
Sorry to hear that Frank Oz didn't like the script. I loved the whole movie and surprised myself by tearing up at the return of the Muppets! Such a happy day. Menah, Menah.
14
Bah! Too much Disney crap, not enough Muppets. The Muppets were upbeat and positive without hitting you over the head with "YOU CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT IF YOU JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF." Muppets were more likely to hit you over the head with, say, a chicken. Bad movie.
15
Please do not hate on the Muppet Christmas Carol. I sincerely hope you are not including it in your losing streak. Okay, there are a few dull moments, but Gonzo as Charles Dickens? WIN
16
Surely, this can't be worse than Hugo?
17
It's "Menomena" people.
18
Actually, it's "Mah NĂ  Mah NĂ ".
19
Muppet Treasure Island and Muppet Christmas Carol are both awesome, I will fight anyone who disagrees.
