Such nice dogs, and so good with Liam Neeson.
2
It kind of makes sense. We're all desparately fighting for our lives only to lose in the end. I want to see it.
3
Strapping broken airline liquor bottles to his fists? Seriously?
4
In the script, Liam's character kills the wolf and is then rescued by a helicopter thanks to the GPS wristwatch. I prefer the ending the filmmakers went with...the ambiguity works in my opinion.

Thanks for the spoiler alert, and overarching thanks for spoiling it. I'm guessing every responsible critic around will want to spoil this one, for the greater good.

The saddest part of this film is hearing Neeson's voice over talking about his wife towards the beginning. Good lord. That man is made of 100% pure Irish Steele.

Also, Paul I've missed the tv ads, but when the movie ended EXACTLY LIKE THE POSTER, I'd say it's safe to say this movie spoiled itself. Right there when you walk into the theater, you're staring at the ending! Sheesh!

Bullshit movie about wolves.

No need to worry about spoiling it. The trailer did that without your assistance. This movie looks too ridiculous to bother to see in the first place.

That said... I thought Unforgiven did a good job using violence as a means of deglamorizing violence. But that was sort of the exception to the rule. Generally, trying to tack on an existential ending to an otherwise formulaic action thriller is lame.

@9 Thanks for that link.

That's exactly why I won't go see it (but until reading the article at the link I wasn't aware that dead wolves were being used as props, or that the cast dined on wolf meat).

I checked out Paul's spoiler just to see if there was any chance that the film retracted its anti-wolf stance anywhere along the line. Obviously not.

Wolves have enough problems without the additional bad PR that will result from this film.

If they really wanted to use a wild creature to be the 'bad guy' - they should have at least chosen one that will actually go after humans - bears.

I thought the last scene made the whole movie worth watching. I'd recommend it, except if you've seen that trailer (let alone read past Paul's jump), it's already been spoiled.

@3: the taping the bottles to his fist scene was great in the context of the movie. They shouldn't have given it away.

@11 et al, if you're going to fuss about the wolves in the name of environmental responsibility, you should at least give the film credit for the way it portrayed what it's like to work on an oil rig (not what oil company execs would like you to see), and the way the workers viewed "corporate" -- basically, "they don't give a shit if we live or die".

"This movie looks too ridiculous"

I saw the trailer in the theater a while back waiting for some other movie to start. It provoked widespread laughter. I recall thinking that's kind of a bad sign for your action thriller."

Please wait...
