Makes perfect sense to me. Though video rental is going the way of the dinosaurs, this town is replete with bleeding heart movie lovers, just waiting for another non-profit to take their donations. As long as Scarecrow takes donor cultivation as seriously as they take film cultivation, I don't see how this can fail.
Scarecrow should open a Rockbox style venue where you can rent a comfy little room to watch their movies in, alone or with friends. Or curate one of the screens at Sundance Cinema.
I live in terror of the day Scarecrow is forced to close. Hopefully some local tech millionaires will take pity and fund it as a non-profit or something. I do think that their antiquated rental fees/policies are nuts however. But then, its never actually been run as a real business from day one.
@4: You realize it is already been bailed out by tech millionaires already (the current owners), right? That they made is as much of a business as you can, given the dying nature of the breed?
