I notice the author of the review has failed to thank Mr. Weinstein for slicing this film down to a good wholesome PG! But then, given Mr. Mudude's appreciation of its unamerican and unpatriotic nature, this was probably not an oversight on his part. Leave it to the Europeans to pervert life liberty and good down home American cookin.
Delicatessen is by far Jeunet's best movie. I doubt an English-language version would do it justice, though (I saw a subtitled version once and it missed half the jokes/humorous references).
I'm excited to see this! My favorite Jeunet movie is A Very Long
Engagement. I haven't seen Delicatessen, I need to get on that. Jeunet's style is like combining the best qualities of Terry Gilliam and Wes Anderson. Whimsical and fantastic yet dark.
