Uh. . .

1. Do indie films that receive generally positive reviews, and have a pretty big star typically perform well at the box office?

2. Is Wiig really a "pretty big" star?

I would be shocked if a small indie film that is completely about female agency and features (I'm just guessing here) no explosions or car chases had a booming box office.

As for Wiig's box office power: How did The Skeleton Twins do in sales? I recall the great reviews (and it was a good film) but don't recall it getting huge receipts.

Indeed, how well do indies with Laura Linney, Jennifer Jason Leigh, or Tilda Swinton do at the box office?

Im sorry. I thought it was easily understood that I meant indie box office success and not the Avengers type.

It's going to better on streaming services where people don't have to tell a clerk they're there for the statutory rape movie.

This always reminds me of an epic Jezebel /Xo thread "The myth of the teenage temptress", which detailed how the author, as a teenager, had sought out older men for sexual relationships. Numerous - hundreds - of commentators reported similar stories.

Not going to defend Jared "Middle school girls are hot" Fogel, but overall can we start to accept that the "teenage temptress" concept is not a myth, per se, but normal activity practiced by average humans?

Ditto @6

Can we please re-establish something that previous generations seemed to understand just fine? Stop equating pedophilia with statutory rape. Pedophilia is defined as sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children. A 15 year old is in no way a pre-pubescent child. She is a sexually (if, perhaps, not emotionally) mature young woman. Nature decided that we are ready for reproduction at that age. We, unfortunately, were not consulted in the matter.

Fuck Jared and his "the younger, the better" BS, but the The Stranger's review of this film was very level-headed. This comparison is a step in the wrong direction.

You know, charles, this post is pretty weird taken with your intense appreciation for Lolita.

Please wait...
