When this movie gets to Boulder, I'm lining up for midnight tickets.

Sending humans to Mars would be a ridiculous waste of resources. We could send throngs of robots to every nook and cranny in the solar system instead. All humans on Mars gets you is video of some air force colonel hitting golf balls into the Valle Marineris.

We can "start caring about space again" when we're done adequately caring for Earth - including the countless humans living in poverty and hunger.

#5 - behold the power of the word "AND". There's 6B people on the planet. We can do more than one thing at once.

I finished reading The Martian a few weeks ago, and it affected me in the way I think Andy Weir intended it to: it made me want to donate $5 to NASA.

I'm so hyped for this movie.

Well there's hope. Right here in Seattle. Check it out:

And yes, you can say awwww afterward. Aside from the family cat, the legoR2D2, contact from NASA jet propulsion lab, it tells you that real science is among us. You don't need a movie to inspire. Just the curious minds of 2 awesome girls and their wonderfully supportive parents.

Great book and I'm looking forward to the movie. I don't remember the line "I'm the first person to be alone on an entire planet," but can't help but feel that as long as we live in an America where the majority is going to take issue with that line, there is no hope for science saving the world...

Please wait...
