He did not hand anything to her on a platter. He basically gave her the preposterous notion that the federal government is not to be trusted. He made her sound entirely reasonable. That's 3 minutes I won't be getting back.
She already thought that; it's why she's been trying so hard for the past eight years to weasel her way into a position of power in the same federal government she mistrusts, because she believes it would suddenly become so much more trustworthy with her in charge, as her previous experience as an elected official so clearly demonstrates.
Funny, Seth obviously felt she was wrong, but asked his questions respectfully in such a way as to make her contradict herself, which she did, but he kept her from becoming enflamed in a shouting match. And she responded as well as her intellect allows - but you've got to admit, with relative grace.
This is exactly how I speak to my conservative family members at Thanksgiving. Maybe Seth was just rehearsing?
Sticking your head in the sand and pretending something doesn't exist isn't a terribly effective method for dealing with that thing; it doesn't go away just because one refuses to acknowledge or confront it.
