If you loved and/or liked the classic British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, please keep reading to see if you’d like Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. If you’ve never heard of the show, the movie, or were born after 1970, for sure stop reading and find something else to do with your time. I’m given to understand that PokĂ©mon GO is popular. You’re welcome!

That being said, if you’re unfamiliar with the series or the movie, annoyed by the current PokĂ©mon craze, and are still curious, you should definitely check out Ab Fab (the show, circa 1992-2012), because it is a bona fide scream. Comedians Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley play upper-crusty selfish socialites Edina and Patsy, who spend their lives boozing, drugging, and getting into various sexual misadventures while driving Edina’s straitlaced daughter Saffron (Julia Sawalha) batty. To say the humor is biting, cruel, and over the top is a bit of an understatement—so if that’s not really your thing, try giving PokĂ©mon GO another shot. Apparently it’s more fun than it sounds.

If you’re still intrigued, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie picks up where the series left off: Edina and Patsy have not matured one iota, and when the pair suddenly find themselves bankrupt (and charged with killing model Kate Moss) they dash off to the French Riviera to evade the law, find rich husbands, and ingest more drugs and bubbly.

The film achieves the same high-pitched, broad humor of the series—even though at a scant 90 minutes, Ab Fab: The Movie is straining at the seams. While you may wonder, “Why was this made?” the hilarious presence of Joanna Lumley is reason enough. Her character Patsy is a stroke of comedic genius, and the world is always in dire need of that. Otherwise... maybe catch it when it comes to Netflix? Or as I mentioned earlier, PokĂ©mon GO is really popular, you guys. recommended
