Miss, this well-written piece perfectly exudes my sentiments of the past 10 years or so of black movies. Just the fact that someone else feels the same way I do about today's black films is almost enough to disregard the donkey dung that is 21st c. movies tailored to black audiences. (Almost.) On that note, I do wish we had better representation and better films. All we have are slave movies (Do I need to list these) or regurgitated crap none of us asked for (Annie for black people, Fatal Attraction for black people). Well, maybe next year; not gonna hold my breath waiting.
Selma, Dear White People, Fruitvale Station, Creed, the upcoming Moonlight, the re-release of To Sleep With Anger--there are so many fine films out there featuring (and made by) people of color. Maybe just bypass the Screen Gems stuff.
