Heh, while it would have been funny to have a black lady around to sorta Greek-Chorus the whole mess and be like "Lord, white bitches be crazy," the filmmakers probably thought they wouldn't be able to give the role enough nuance to avoid "Mammy" territory so better to just not do it than do it badly.
