I miss nuance.
2
"I certainly don't remember taking this picture,"
In other words, groping her was such an un-remarkable thing for me to do that I have no memory of it... "I mean, jeez. You can't expect me to remember EVERY woman I grope!"

NOBODY is who we think they are,,,,and that includes when one is looking in a mirror at themselves...our weasel selves are always there,,,,
6
I try to reverse-image for fun. I put black folks in the poses taken by whites. I put women in the poses taken by men. It's informative.

Ideal time for "Yeah, No."

The SNL women answered a question we all had about Al Franken and the 20 years of time he spent there. They shouldn't be attacked for speaking out, and if they hadn't people would have written about them anyway and assumed they were frightened victims. They have a right to correct misconceptions about them and their work environment.

And I don't care about the pictures of Joy Behar and Arianna Huffington. It's called "being in on the joke" and if those women say they were in on the joke and not sexually harassed, it's no one place to demand that they play the role of more "responsible" women. That's low-key slut shaming.

11
@2 Well it seems that now that a Democratic Senator has gotten swept up in this thing even the meatheads are on board? Maybe we are making some real progress.
12
I'm not making up my mind until we hear from Chris Farley.
13
Jesus fucking christ.

Republicans are laughing at democrats. I'm laughing with them because it's too easy.

Democrats are idiots. But keep eating your own. It's working out SO well for you.

Republicans are winners. Democrats are losers. Jesus. Democrats are going out of their way to lose. They WANT to lose.

Data point: the Tweeden photos were staged she and there was no physical contact. She was not asleep the photographer AND Tweeden have explained this a dozen times. Tweeden’s actual complaint was the kissing “rehearsal” where he supposedly slipped her the tongue.

Data point two: Tweeden accepted Franken’s appology and considers the matter closed.
15
@11 no, #2 is still the shit-for-brains he always was.
16
You should hear the black ladies I work with defend Bill Cosby and call his accusers sluts who clearly wanted it. It's pretty crazy.

It is also pretty crazy seeing so many people suddenly deciding that sexual assault is a very nuanced topic, and we should not necessarily listen to women accusing men if that man is a democrat. This is why people call you hypocrites. This right here.
17
@16

Yes, isn't this great? Another win for your side!
18
@17: Stop projecting.
20
"default camera pose"? Seriously. You know that's not accurate.
21
@16 @18

You're the one who used the collective "you."

Nice of you to take the opportunity to pathologize black people, too. After all, there's no reason to identify Cosby's supporters by their race, and I don't remember seeing any comments from you critical of Roy Moore's supporters or pointing out that they are white ladies.

23
@21: Haha, I work with a bunch of black ladies who support Cosby. I do not work with a bunch of white ladies that support Moore. I can't recall ever meeting a Moore supporter, to be honest. Who are they, and where do they meet? I'll head right on over to call them assholes. But only if they are white of course!

Sorry if this upsets you, but it is just the reality I live in.
24
@22: but yet, we're spending the majority of our Slog energy talking out "the Franken Problem", while Moore's denials stand and fade into the hazy memories of the body politic. President Asshole used Moore's "total denial" as a QED yesterday. worked for him.

whataboutism mission accomplished. again.
26
@14 people keep saying this and never provide a source other than twitter memes. Afaik the photographer hasn't said a thing.
27
@25: Fun dayn moyl zu Got's oyem.
29
@19,
Integrity on the other hand is not irreplaceable. This is an opportunity for democrats to demonstrate how to handle these matters and in the long term voters - the lady ones at least - will reward them for it.
White women voted for Trump
31
@30,

I already believe you that child molestation and sexual assault charges will cost democrats long term. It'll cost them short term too. Well, if any democrats are left in a few years that is.

Won't cost republicans though.

Democrats demand their politicians be perfect.

Republicans don't give a shit what their politicians do.

Result? Republicans win.

Democrats will lose and lose and lose because democrats keep bringing knives to gun fights.

I don't like it either but reality's a bitch.
31
@Anna Kaplan - the article reads like Al Franken personally groped or raped you. I don't know who molested you but take it out on that guy not someone you've never met.

The Huffington Pictures according to Ariana were purposefully posed in that manner. The other allegations haven't' held up.

You Anna Kaplan by writing this hit piece on Al Franken will make it that much easier for a guy that actually does harm to get away with it because you've made all victims less believable. Take pride in your hit job as a job well done.
32
@1 : I do too.

"Here's Sen. Franken groping Leeann Tweeden while she was asleep" - - - How come nobody ever points out that it's very obviously an AIR GROPE . There's no contact there. Bad taste, sure, particularly as a photograph with one-sided consense, but not a grope.

I'm in no way an apologist... I just find it disturbing that stupid shit is being conflated as 'sexual misconduct'.
33
It's amazing the GOP gets away with this. Tweeden is a Reich wing plant, the allegation was never meant to stand, it was meant to distract from Roy Moore an actual Child Molester with a history of asking the mothers of underage girls for permission to date them.

So here we are talking about another Democrat defending a negative. The GOP only has to keep us distracted until after the next vote. America isn't worth saving anymore. The Reich Wing are assholes, and liberals are too god damned stupid to wage war.
35
@34,
The democrats are only within 'striking distance' of taking a senate position away from a republican accused of sexually assaulting 14 year olds.

A republican brags about sexually assaulting a white woman and he gets elected president, with the enthusiastic support of white women, instead of his white woman opponent.

That's not a good omen for democrats at all.
38
I love the idea we should empower women to speak out -- unless they say things we don't like. Then we attack them for disrupting the precious narrative we're working so hard to fabricate.(Citing obviously humorous photos as "proof": now that is a tell.)

@1: Nuance will make an amazing recovery once the accused is someone the Stranger supports.

Please wait...
