Last night's debut of Sacha Baron Cohen's new Showtime show Who Is America? got off to a blazing start when the prankster debuted his newest character anti-terrorism expert Erran Morad, and convinced a bunch of Republicans that America should arm preschoolers. The program Baron Cohen described to GOP members was called "Kinderguardians" in which "talented" young children would be trained and carry weapons to protect other kids from school shooters—though he noted that children under three would be excluded from the program because "they don't call them the terrible twos for nothing."

In fact, GOP members such as California Rep Dana Rohrabacher, South Carolina's Joe Wilson, and former Senate leader Trent Lott adored the idea so much they agreed to tape a commercial in favor of the imaginary program. Even crazier, Baron Cohen really won over gun nut and Virginia Citizens Defense League president Philip Van Cleave, and talked him into participating in a video for kids promoting such child-friendly guns as Puppy Pistol, Dino-Gun, and an Uzi-corn (that one's for girls). Needless to say, Republicans are not happy campers today.

Watch the video here, and prepared to be shocked. (Or perhaps not shocked at all?)
