As much as I wanted to be drawn in by Barry Jenkins's adaptation of James Baldwin's novel, I left the theater thinking about groceries.

I kind of figured. It's really sad that our best movies this year are really "meh." Either that or the straight to VOD movies are really doing well and not being recognized. I thought the same with Blackkklansmen (Meh), Vice (Meh), Bohemian Rhapsedy (Meh), Black Panther (Big Meh). I honestly think people in the major studio circuit today have no clue what they're doing (or they're too many fanboys of Star Wars sagas).... Or we just need better talent from the 70's to come back... (and make things more stage oriented - less video games).

And honestly - Blindspotting, Mandy and Sorry to Bother you were way better then those movies. Although the academy of arts want their friends to win... So yay awards shows!
