Thirty years ago, my college roommate's dad held forth on the decline of the NYT since his youth, when you could have obtained a real education from the magazine and the book review.
It's another sure sign of my own senescence, along with the periodic recruitment letters from the AARP, that I now agree with him.

Yes, the media is money driven. Would you like a gold star for realising that. That does not mean that everything in the media is money-driven. Or that everyone in the media is working for a shadowy capitalist conspiracy. Try to hold two ideas in your head at the same time: one can (a) understand that the media is biased and (b) appreciate what it does for us simultaneously!
