It's nice that, finally, in the ass-kicking female lead genre we have someone OTHER than 105lb anorexic Buffy-esque waif model in a neglige throwing ridiculously poor spin kicks in every situation.

The degree to which Hollywood distorts Newtonian physics by portraying a skeletal Uma Thurmon or Angie Jollie knocking out 230lb guys with one facile limp-wristed abuses an unimaginative sexist cliche to it's limits.

Gina Carano - who fought in MMA at 143lb - CAN actually kick ass.

IMHO, In terms of genre action, this type of casting is a positive trend.

"one facile limp-wristed punch"

I was gonna say, why no comparisons to that disturbing skeleton in Salt? Did anyone actualy watch her run? God, that was funny.

Please Mr Producer and Hollywood types, learn from this. Pretty boys and waifs do not make interesting action stars.

Uh, "facile" means simplistic or shallow, such as in an argument.

"Fragile"?

As for women kicking arse, yep, and gimmee more female Chinese martial artists as well. Where's the new Michelle Yeoh or Pei-pei Cheng? (I'm sure there are plenty of candidates in Hong Kong, but it'd be nice to have more hit the English language scene).

Please wait...
