I don't disagree with anything Krishanu has to say about this predictable film, but I got swept up in it anyway. A fine cast helps--and I sincerely hope the YouTube clip of Dominic "McNulty" West dancing to "Shame, Shame, Shame" goes viral.

Saw this last Tuesday. Enjoyable. Preachy. Bitter sweet updates on the characters before the credits roll. Better than 95% of the movies out now

I know the inclination of most any critic is to be preternaturally skeptical of a movie, and that shows in your review. I too had my doubts when I went to see the Seattle premiere of this film as part of the 19th Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. But you know what, it worked. It was well-acted, and not nearly as cheesy as I expected it to be. Don't hesitate to check this one out. It's a surprising little gem. [By the way, Stranger, your show times link is to a completely different movie by the same name.]

Just to reinforce the previous comments; this movie was among the best things I have seen in the past couple of years. The story is predictable, but how many people know this story from 1984 in the UK? Sometimes telling a story well makes for a good movie, and an uplifting movie about gay men from the 1980s, that is so rare. The reviewer definitely seems to be struggling to overcome the assumption that his job is to find a way to denigrate the movie. It's ok to like a movie, even if it is uplifting.
