Interesting that this film has a much more impressive cast of Jewish actors (Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Isaacs) playing WWII soldiers than Pitt's Inglourious Basterds did.
Love Brad Pitt and I love a good war movie, but damn...enough already of late middle-aged actors playing soldiers engaged in the horror we reserve for the young.
@5, whatever flaws this movie might have, I can buy Pitt as a WWII tank commander.
Remember, the average age of a soldier in WWII was much older than today. True, you wouldn't likely have seen someone in their 50s in a tank, but certainly in their 30s or maybe even 40s. I had relatives in their 30s who just cold enlisted during WWII, which would never happen today. And if you ignore Pitt's actual age, he can believably pull off someone in their late 30s.
If you want to see the ONE surviving, running Tiger tank, this is pretty much the only way, barring going to the Bovington tank museum on the one day a year they drive it around...
Well, I went to see it today and ok, Brad Pitt pulls it off, he is a veteran seasoned tank commander. Pretty good movie, too, if you are into the genre. Until the phony last shoot-em-up the verisimilitude seems pretty damn good. Re-reading the review, Paul Constant does a good job, he should have just gone ahead and recommended it, lord knows he has recommended a lot worse dreck.
Good day.
maybe 35 max., but more likely they were <30.
