I've read the book. Very good. I may see this film yet. But, for a counterpoint, checkout 'Meru'. A fantastic documentary.

If that accurate film on Everest ever gets made, I know how it should open: a sunrise shot of endless frozen garbage among the snow. The waste of previous humans who are in love with the illusion of "conquering" nature. They not only climb to the top of Everest, they cover it in shit & garbage along the way.

@3: Yes, and I believe there are efforts to clean it up.

The "conquering" refers to conquering one's own limitations in the pursuit of enjoying nature to its fullest. Go climb a mountain and you'll get exactly what I mean.
