Yeah, that's about what I expected.
There's a reason we still read this book. Stick to the good stuff in there.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein DID know parkour, for fuck's sake.

Harry Potter------say it ain't so! Professor McGonagle (a.k.a. Dame Maggie Smith)---turn this film into a water beetle!
I'll catch a reshowing of Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" with Gentleman Gene Wilder, cast and crew again, instead. At least Gene Hackman as the blind man was ready with espresso.

Is this reviewer insane?

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein is genius funny!

Even if you're not an A & C fan.

Second only to Young Frankenstein, but with even more of the classic characters from Universal's horror film stable. In this film, Abbott and Costello encounter Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein's monster (Glenn Strange), and the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney, Jr.)

Ask our friend Wikipedia:

In 2001, the United States Library of Congress deemed this film "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, and in 2000 A&C meet F racked up AFI's 100 Years... 100 Laughs at #56.

Well, only temporary insanity, hopefully. (Personally, I blame all the Frankenberry.) I love the Abbott & Costello monster movies (ok, MEET THE MUMMY is pretty dire), but they did definitely put an end to the classic Universal horror era. Thanks for the comment! And the citing of sources!
