You know that the owner of Tamarind Tree opened another, fancier Vietnamese restaurant where the ill-fated QUBE once stood: Long Provincial Vietnamese Restaurant & Jelly Bar. ("Long" is pronounced laong—it's Vietnamese for dragon. The Jelly Bar serves cocktails, not jelly; it has a jellyfish tank. Stranger reader-reviewers already love Long.)
But did you know owner Tam Nguyen is opening a Southeast Asian indoor marketplace in the International District on 10th and Jackson? He says, "We'll be selling food and clothing from Thailand, Laos, Korea, and Japan for cheap. I'm going to paint the ceiling dark blue, install twinkling lights, and call it Saigon at Night."
More from him in Chow Bio over here (scroll down a little).
