Bethany nailed it. This place is awesome. The pizza is superior to Tutta Bella (which is reliably good) and definitely to Tribunali (which I want to like, but just doesn't taste great after a couple visits). The crust at The Independent won't grab you by the collar (it doesn't have to), but it's the best I've tasted in Seattle.
Service is sometimes slow because of a staff of 3, but they try hard and it's really, really, really good pizza.
been several times and really like it. it's affordable, the wine by the glass is great, and they have some of the newer breweries on tap, which is great.
i haven't been since the summer, but now i want to go this weekend.
I volunteer at the Fiske Genealogical Library in the old Pioneer Building and this place has never been on my radar, even though I walk past it on my way to McGilvra's. It will great to try it out next time I'm down the street.
Looking forward to visiting it next time I canoe from Fremont to Madison Park.
