"But, of course, now everyone gets us confused with Highlander."

I'm sure Jim Caviezel feels the same way re-garding his time/space travelling Viking movie "Outlander" as well.

They have a great local beer selection (when I was there, they also had a cherry cider that was killer), and prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, their food needs a lot of work.

For beer people that don't care about food, it's an excellent place. But if you want something tasty to nosh while you quaff your brew, well... Maybe you'd be better off at Brouwer's.

So long as you're in Fremont, you're good.

Hey, are you guys going to cover Cider Week, or the Wine Chocolate and Cider event at Theo's on Friday? Or the new place in the new building just north of the Red Door that serves Chocolate Tea and Wine?

Hard cider sales are up 400 percent, you know.

They ran out in 2 days, but they're making more? So, every 3 weeks minimum they'll have some of their own beer on tap for 2 days.

That's the problem with nano-breweries. A one barrel system means you brew 2 kegs at a time. If you have any kind of steady business you will be constantly running out, and also constantly brewing. I would bet that storage is a problem in an old Victorian house, so you can forget about doing lagers. They tie up the tanks and the storage space for way too long.

Constant brewing leaves little time to run a business, especially if there is a kitchen involved. We've seen tons of these pop up in Colorado, and people are quickly discovering the problem and either folding or selling to some other sucker.

If you are going to open a brewery, do yourself a favor. 3 bbl system minimum, 7-10 bbl and you'll be golden. Have 4 or so beers you always have on tap, and a 1 bbl "experimental" system when you want to do your Peanut Butter Chocolate Chipotle Robust Imperial American Black Cascadian Light Dark Lager IPA.
