Nate's Wings & Waffles Is Open in the Central District

ā€¢ The Central District outpost of the Rainier Beach restaurant Nate's Wings & Waffles, owned in part by local basketball legend Nate Robinson, is now serving the same menu of terrific fried chicken wings and rotating, creative waffle specials (pumpkin pie, green tea, root beer float). There are also seven different dipping sauces, Angus beef sliders, ā€œNateā€™s Specialā€ (a grilled cheese sandwich with chicken strips and barbecue sauce), as well as liquor, wine, beer, and happy hour. (And, if it's anything like the Rainier Beach location, good times and good vibes.)

And yes, with the recent opening of Fat's Chicken and Waffles, the Central District is officially good on fried chicken for the moment.

Niche Gluten-Free Cafe and Bakery Is Now Open

ā€¢ Toby Matasar's eagerly anticipated, entirely gluten-free cafe and bakery, Niche, officially opens today. A few years ago, the veteran French-trained pastry chef switched to a Paelo diet and never looked back. Gluten-free folks, rejoice, for Matasar, who was once pastry chef for Tom Douglas Restaurants and owned and operated West Seattleā€™s beloved Eats Market Cafe for ten years before it closed in 2015, has focused her formidable baking skills on creating an entire menu of panini, toast, and waffles, all made in-house.
