Union and 23rd? Uh, we call that 23rd and Union. Damn this town is changing, strangers turning it into a new city around me. Love the coffee tech though, thanks for the tips.

Kids these days. The local espresso business started with Monorail Espresso, which was originally a cart located at the Westlake complex. The first local espresso cafe was Allegro Cafe in the U-District, which is still in business. Starbucks, originally Wet Whisker, was located on the waterfront, and it did make drinks at that location.

Conduit is one of my favorite roasters in the city. If you haven't had a chance to try their coffee, make it happen!

I remember both very well. Allegro was the first coffee shop I went to - they put a cardamom seed into a latte and blew my mind. Starbucks is to coffee what QFC is to sushi.

"One of Seattle's only public Slayer espresso machines can be found at Squirrel Chops, a cafe on Union and 23rd."

Not even remotely true.

Slate Coffee Roasters has been using Slayer Machines for about 3 years now. They have Locations in Ballard, University, and 2nd & James.

Evoke Coffee on 9th Ave is using one of the revamped Slayer Steam X models.
