Here are a few of my favorites around town.

The Duke of Toddy at Corvus & Co. is served “hot as a son of a gun” with a dehydrated lemon wheel and star anise garnish. @sbhopper

They have "Hot Toddy Season" in Ireland and if one feels they are coming down with a cold, they order hot whiskeys. So, I don't think it only our puritanical beginnings that have to do with it.
