As someone who enjoys Mexican food and has made an effort to locate good taquerias in the Seattle area, I am continually baffled by the praise Barracuda has managed to garner. Most of the meats are bland (the lengua is okay) and poorly-presented, the beans and rice are bland, the tortas are more bread than filling, and the prices are just silly. Boo!

@1--Maybe you are wrong and all the other people are right.
3
Having eaten at Barracuda, I can attest to the awesome tacos. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Unless someone wants to put forth a convincing argument that Barracuda compares favorably to one of Seattle's legit taquerias (i.e. not Blue Water or Taco del Mar), I refuse to believe that the praise of this place is based on anything beyond Seattle's general cluelessness about Mexican food. C'mon, I'm looking forward to it.

Do you decide what food you enjoy based on convincing arguments? Do you use convincing arguments to convince others that the food they THOUGHT they enjoyed is actually NOT delicious? Do you get mad when people don't like the Eagles because IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE?

The smell of Barracuda makes my mouth drooley with anticipation.
6
Just go back to making hits, puff daddy.
7
Seattle "Mexican" food is sad...

@5: You're a tool. Either Barracuda is mediocre and its praise comes entirely from people who have no idea what good Mexican food is supposed to taste like, or it's great and I just lucked into visiting on two very off days for the kitchen. Well, what's it going to be?
9
go eat at Senor Moose and then tell me that Seattle Mexican food is sad!
10
In total agreement with #9. The Moose rocks.

It's amazing how little Seattle people know about food, much less, Mexican food. One can only shake one's head in wonderment.
12
I doubt anyone in the U.S. who isn't from a border town knows what Mexican food is-- only some weird corruption of it.
13
Just like you doubt anyone has traveled to Mexico to taste real Mexican food?
14
I have no horse in this race; I'm just bemused by the spectacle of certain people thinking they just know an entire city lacks discernment with regard to food. These seers should channel those astounding mental powers toward something really beneficial for society.

The internet is a great forum for making insane overgeneralized statements, especially Seattle bashing. No one here dances and we all eat shit for every meal. Don't even bring Portland into this.

I realize i'm late to the game here, but yes you can find real mexican food in the Seattle area...There is the taco truck in white center (corner of 16th and roxbury) or you can go to any of the taqueria el reconsitos or my favorite taqueria el estacion in burien

We thought we had found Mexican fast food heaven.. Absolutely delicious because of first rate ingredients and a real food sense. With their cold beer, casual atmosphere and classy service, it is a great experience. It made it worth our trip from Maine. Those raves are well deserved.

Will be dining on tacos from Barracuda in just a few hours. Expect an honest review to follow...

btw- as someone who is an experienced gourmand I find the notion that food can't be understood somehow, ridiculous!!!! It's FOOD!...did you like it? yes/no....then deconstruct from there. Oh, and "authenticity" is a fool's argument. Regional styles are different, some chefs offer fusion, some go for street style, etc... in this case Barracuda is offering Tex/Mex with a New Mexico style is says so IN THE FIRST SENTENCE!!

Bashing Seattle's lack of Mexican cuisine is so cliche. I know, I know... guy/girl from California...you KNOW, right? Sheesh.

Please wait...
