A lady friend and I went here a few weeks after opening, and while delighted with the space and the idea, were sadly disappointed. The space is beautiful, I wish I could have my house look like this. The food seems to be made superbly flavors are good, yet both of the cuts of meat ordered were overdone, as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp for an extra 10 minutes, My glass of vermouth tasted oxidized (confirmed by the tasting done by the visiting bartenders next to us) and while sitting at the bar service that was disappointing, even getting told when the kitchen would close before it closed or what deserts they were out of would have been nice. We came expecting to be delighted and left sad. Ill give it another try in a month or two; perhaps the service and speed will have improved by then.
A Banyuls vinaigrette is made with Banyuls vinegar, not the Banyuls winefrom the same grape.
It tastes like the marriage of Balsamic and Sherry vinegars.
I'd say this review is pretty spot on with the food and the ambiance. What's nice is going to a restaurant and having waiters in tune with the rhythm of the table...knowing when to stay out of the way, knowing when to pour the wine (oh! my glass is full again! how did that happen?) knowing when to take your order and in which order to ask around the table. I've been 3 times. And the wine is....well, try it. It's art.
Book Bindery has already become one of my top 2 favorite restaurants in Seattle. It sounds like Digital was looking for fault. We've already had several flawless experiences and expect to have many more. It truly is a great value (not inexpensive) for what you get. Book Bindery is in a class all it's own. The only bad part is how hard it already is to get a table.
And if it had, why not say something to your server? I'm sure they would replace it. Bitching about it later doesn't make your evening better.
Sounds like the biggest thing missing was your lack of social skills
