I highly recommend the monthly drag show brunch at the Skylark in West Seattle. Can't find details at the moment, but it's hilarious, with decent food, cheap drinks, and great banter.
Oh hooray! Happy to see this here! I love both brunches (and RIP Morning Glory) as well as Mama and Sylvia so much! Too bad you didn't make to to one with Honey Bucket who is hands down the most entertaining drag queen in the WORLD though. You'll have to catch her when Bacon Strip RETURNS IN SEPTEMBER or at West Side Glory at the Skylark in August (they're taking July off).
On a related note, is there a reason the Stranger doesn't give props to shows at the Skylark? Has it all been just an oversight or is there some bad blood I don't know about?
@1 Morning Glory at the Skylark ended when Magnolia moved to LA and, since there were then two other drag brunches, they switched it up to an evening variety show called West Side Glory. https://www.facebook.com/events/27801639…
One thing that you didn't mention - which may (or may not) be of interest is that Sylvia's show is relatively family friendly - much like the original stage run of Pee Wee's playhouse.
I volunteer at the S. Seattle senior center occasionally for drag bingo, which is hosted by Sylvia. It's hella fun, we bring down kegs from Columbia City Ale House, sell solo cups of good beer for 2 bucks and give all the cash to the center. Drunk Seniors + Drag Bingo = 100% awesome.
