Do they mention Bloody Thursday, The Everett Massacre, or the current Northwest grain lockout?

My favorite was the "60 Watt" , in a cornor room of the labor temple downtown, back when my union hall was accross the street. Once a guy walked into the meeting in fuzzy slippers, a bathrobe and a bloody mary in his hand to sign the book, then went back to the bar.

There was My Suzies that used to be in the SUP Hall, that was a good bar

Love, love, love Union Bar! (And that's not just because the owners are friends of mine...two high school teachers that are the coolest people on earth.) They have fabulous food, great drinks, and the perfect vibe for hanging out to watch a game or just unwind. It's a true neighborhood joint. I only wish it were closer to my neighborhood.

Seriously, go check it out!

Is Union Bar a union bar? Do the workers in the bar and in the kitchen have a union, or is their power over their working conditions and quality of life limited to the "take it or leave it" reality of non-union service work? Assuming that Union Bar is an ethical place to eat and drink is like assuming that the restaurant workers there have access to affordable health care just because their white-collar bosses do.

So far multiple Stranger staffers have praised Union Bar for being owned by two union teachers while I have nothing against union teachers (I was able to go to the doctor when I was a kid because my dad is a union teacher), I've heard nothing about the workers there in Hillman City.

I would imagine that if the workers there wanted to unionize, the owners would welcome it. But owners can not force a union.

Please wait...
