Republicans are horrible people.
2
@1: Many are, including our RINO president. However, if Mitt Romney was elected in 2012 we probably wouldn't be having this mess now as President Romney would have been savvy enough to work with Democrats to make the ACA more viable.

I did my part to try to make that happen.

The Rightwing of this country is a grinding Revanche cult of ignorant fools that turn suicide-homicide pacts into policy.
4
@2 Go fuck yourself you delusional appologist.
5
@2 seriously, go fuck yourself.
6
@2,

Bull$shit. RepubliKKKans are all on the same page when it comes to condemning millions to sickness and death--they're all for it in exchange for tax cut$ for the rich.

They don't feel empathy, sympathy, or any other positive human emotions. They'd put a gun to your head and pull the trigger for a dollar.

Raindrip, like all the trolls in here, are lying sacks of shit. Romney openly said he would repeal the ACA and even fund raised on repeal.

I've been staying healthy and paying a penalty since ACA was enacted (health insurance went from 310 to 980 a month) and you're bragging about 700k in hospital bills? Guess how I feel about that, Matthew? Like maybe you're not contributing at the same rate as you're detracting and I'm going to be glad when I am no longer penalized by your unfortunate health.
10
@7: So what? You don't remember history enough to remember that Romney could bend as easily cooked pasta? Politicians say one thing and do another. Considering that Romneycare preceded Obamacare, it is reasonable to postulate that Romney would have ingratiated himself with Harry Reid enough to get a better version of the ACA that gave the GOP some of what it wanted: tort reform - which would have probably would have done it by itself.

So tiresome how you all become so rabidly unhinged at a mere historical hypothetical. You can disagree, robustly, but swearing doesn't elevate your response in the slightest.
11
@9, while you're "staying healthy", you could develop leukemia tomorrow, and according to your answer to the article's author, I guess you'd be willing to simply die because you wouldn't expect others to bear the cost of your treatment. As far as that supposed $980 a month, show us the paperwork.
13
@9 - oh, bragging. So that's what he was doing. Thanks for the clarification.

Also: very honest of you to tell the author you'll be glad when he finally dies. Thanks for letting us see in past the charming-curmudgeon facade.

Say, does anybody know if there's a way to block specific SLOG commenters so that they're not banned, but you don't have to see anything they write? Asking for a friend.
15
@9: I could very be wrong, but I seem to recall that there have been none to very little actual penalties enacted against taxpayers for failing to meet the ACA mandate. The law allows for lapses and there are waivers.
16
@14: Slog does not have the features of Facebook. Tell your friend to just scroll past the text that offends his or her delicate sensibilities.
18
I'll just kill myself now.
19
@2, @10, @15, & @16: Eat my shit and choke on it, you soon-to-be-just-as-uninsured Trumpzillan trollfuck.
20
@9 oh Christ. Another moron who doesn't understand how insurance works. Yes. You pay for sick people. You pay for other people's car accidents. And you pay for homes that get flooded. And you pay for farms that get hit by hurricanes.

And they pay for your stupid ass when your moms basement burns down because you left a hot pocket in the toaster oven.

All insurance works that way, dipshit. Risk pools you pay into until such time YOU need to make a claim. The entire point of insurance is that events are capricious and random. No matter how healthy your choices, no matter where you live, shit happens.
21
@10 oh. Sure. A hypothetical! It's not that you just made shit up out of your ass. No. It was a hypothetical. Sure.

Look. All your comments are "hypothetical." Because you say uninformed bullshit constantly.

It's your repeated unashamed stupidity and apologia that provokes the reactions you get.

You think we get off on this? You're like one of those boorish losers that gloms into someone at a party can't catch a clue. Wake up.

Maybe stop your reflexive inane, insipid comments for a few weeks... hell, a few hours. Try stop being a shut-in loser. Go experience the real world for once and shut up.

22
@21: Why are you getting palpitations over my opinions and commentary? You're easily 130/90 just by writing that.

The fact remains. Obama begat Trump. Romney wouldn't have.
23
Actually, Raindrop dear, it's looking more and more like Putin begat Trump. Not only by manipulating stupid people but by some very surgical hacking - maybe not by Russians per se, but by fellow travelers (Republican Election Directors in strategic counties)

They did it with Bush II. Why wouldn't they do it with Trump? Republicans are horrible people.
24
@23: Actually, the Russians were as surprised as anyone else that Trump won the nomination, even with their help. Putin had in mind all along to undermine Hillary's presidency, as he despised her.
25
@16 - my friend says thanks because he doesn't know how long it would have taken him to think of that on his own.
26
@25: Tell your friend he's welcome and the pleasure was all mine.
27
@9

It's so very telling that you interpreted my incredulous astonishment at the enormous cost of two years of medical care as "bragging." But that's not actually what interests me most about your comment. No, this notion that you somehow are in control of your health is :fascinating: to me. Would you tell us more? What have you done to "stay healthy"?
28
Raindrop, how would you know that, unless you one of the Russian Fellow Travelers?

Go back to Russia, Comrade Raindrop.

Please wait...
