Sure, maybe LW could have kept their car in better condition so that wouldn't have happened it the first place. But depicting him as Hitler in the accompanying illustration seems out of line.
2
Yes, that's Adolf Hitler — famously the driving force (sorry!) behind the creation of that very model of car.
3
Talk about projection: those are TEETH you nit-wit, NOT a Hitler mustache. You can tell, because they're inside an open mouth, not above it.
4
Also, if it was a classic (as opposed to "new bug") Type I, it could easily have been 30 - 40 years old, and anyone familiar with models from that era knows the German steel used was subject to severe corrosion, particularly when exposed to salt from winter de-icing or marine climates, so it wouldn't be in the least bit surprising for the undercarriage to have suffered a catastrophic failure after so many years, regardless of the level of overall maintenance.

Talk about projection
Three comments in, and we're already actually comparing someone to Hitler, as opposed to joking about someone doing it. Okay then.

As for the rest of @3 — oh, never mind.

As someone who drove a Karmann Ghia for 15 years and has lived more than half his life in the snow belt, I am one of those people who wouldn't find that surprising at all.

And, just for the record, I'm not a nit-wit.

@5:

Because it was so obviously a "joke"?

So, okay, you're not a nit-wit, you're a dipshit, I stand corrected...
8
You guys get a room.

Thank you, Anon, for sharing your reminder of why I take continuous good care of my own Love Bug. Rust is a car killer, especially underneath.

#8, right on!

Please wait...

and remember to be decent to everyone
all of the time.
