None of us planned to duck under the caution tape to take a stroll on the viaduct, already being dismantled as we made our way south from the Western Avenue exit. But then we saw some other people were doing it, so we joined them. A little friendly civil disobedience. An impromptu goodbye party. As we milled about waiting to capture our Insta-sunset gold, some with open containers, some with lit pre-rolls, a cop called out, "This is private property and you are trespassing!" But he yelled it half-heartedly and took no action. I think he was just as happy to be sharing in that moment as we were. A sunny January day, the mountains showing off, the walk of a lifetime. Even the sun seemed to linger in the sky longer than it usually does this time of year. It felt like we could all hold on to this perfect day forever.
