Just in time for the holidays, Caffe Vita (along with several partnering businesses and organizations) are releasing GIVE, a compilation of exclusive tracks from 36 local artists—from Ben Gibbard to Gabriel Mintz—with all proceeds to benefit Arts Corps, Ballard Food Bank, Rainier Valley Food Bank, University District Food Bank and West Seattle Food Bank. Awwww.

The album is out November 17th at www.giveseattle.org, Caffe Vita, Easy Street Records, Sonic Boom Records, University Book Store, the Crocodile, the Sorrento Hotel (?!), and Neumos. A benefit show—not for the charities directly but to cover expenses not donated to the GIVE projcet—with details TBA, will be held at the Crocodile on December 3rd.

Seattle music community GIVEs back

Digital GIVE compilation, out Nov. 17, features exclusive music by Ben Gibbard, The Cave Singers, The Moondoggies, D. Black, The Lonely Forest and 31 others to benefit Arts Corps and Seattle area food banks.

SEATTLE, WA - Seattle coffee roaster Caffe Vita in collaboration with 40+ Seattle artists, businesses and nonprofits will release GIVE, a downloadable music and video compendium to benefit Arts Corps, Seattle's largest nonprofit arts educator, along with Ballard Food Bank, Rainier Valley Food Bank, University District Food Bank and West Seattle Food Bank.

A full 100 percent of sales will go directly to GIVE beneficiaries.

The $7 compilation - conceived and initiated by Caffe Vita, which is producing, curating and funding the project - will be available online at www.giveseattle.org, as well as in Caffe Vita shops, Easy Street Records, Sonic Boom Records, University Book Store, The Crocodile, Sorrento Hotel and Neumos. These outlets will carry GIVE packages, including physical cards with a redemption code for the download, as ready-to-give presents.

GIVE is a snapshot of the incredible creativity and diversity that defines Seattle's music community in 2009. Among the musicians who have contributed tracks, nearly all of which are exclusive to GIVE, are hip-hop artists D. Black, Fatal Lucciauno, Champagne Champagne and Mad Rad; modern folk bands Fleet Foxes and The Cave Singers; country-influenced players The Moondoggies, The Maldives and Sera Cahoone; rock 'n' roll outfits Visqueen, Throw Me the Statue, The Blakes and The Lonely Forest; singer-songwriters Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, David Bazan, Joshua Morrison and Fences; and indie pop acts The Dutchess and The Duke, The Long Winters and Grand Archives.

Additional musicians include: Arthur & Yu, Common Market, Pica Beats, J. Tillman, Head Like a Kite, Hey Marseilles, Kinski, Le Loup, Fresh Espresso, Gabriel Mintz, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, Pearly Gate Music, The Saturday Knights, Talbot Tagora, Tea Cozies, and Unnatural Helpers.

Videos for several of the artists will also be included in GIVE.

GIVE truly is a city-wide community campaign. Nearly every facet of the project is being undertaken pro bono. Money for any expenses not donated will be raised at a benefit concert at The Crocodile Dec. 3. Details will be announced in the weeks ahead.
