Life Feels Good

107 min minutes

A true story provides the inspiration for this non-sudsy account of a man society attempted to discard. Mateusz’s sister is especially jerky, but his mother (Dorota Kolak) believes that her son, who has cerebral palsy, is just as smart as anybody else, so she never stops talking to him, even if he lacks the means to respond (Kamil Tkacz and Dawid Ogrodnik play Mateusz by way of believable, intensely physical performances). Eventually, though, he ends up in a mental institution. The breakthrough comes shockingly late, making it all the more moving when he finally expresses a lifetime’s worth of frustration.
