Donna Deitch's classic first film, an adaptation of Jane Ruleset's novel, follows the love story of a somewhat conservative East Coast professor named Vivian Bell and a young free spirit named Cay, who meet after Vivian gets a divorce. This version is digitally restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Criterion Collection/Janus Films.
