Second Act
Jennifer Lopez is back. In her first live action film in three years, Lopez plays an under-achieving 40-something who stumbles into a high-powered corporate consulting job after making a fake stellar resume. Will Lopez’s character climb all the way to the top, dismantle the company, and redistribute stock shares back to all the workers? Probably not. Will Second Act contain powerful commentary on who gets to succeed in an increasingly cruel and capitalist society? Who’s to say? Can you take your extended family that’s in town for the holidays to see this film because all of you agree that J Lo films are normally okay? Absolutely.
