Becoming Astrid
Pernille Fischer Christensen's critically praised biopic about Astrid Lindgren, the author of the Pippi Longstocking series, reveals the Swedish writer as an unconventional woman who developed stories as a well to reconnect with a son she was pressured to give up for adoption. According to Jeannette Catsoulis of the New York Times,, "In many respects, Becoming Astrid is your standard biographical drama, its familiar beats untroubled by narrative daring or stylistic surprises. But Erik Molberg Hansen’s relaxed camera movements and fuzzy-soft compositions are quite beautiful, and the performances—including the superb Trine Dyrholm as the baby’s Danish foster mother—are pitch-perfect." Alba August as Astrid is also reportedly superb.
